Ostara — Air Quality Monitoring Station
Ostara — Air Quality Monitoring Station
Ostara is an autonomous air quality monitoring station designed for outdoor and demanding environments. It measures the main air pollutants, including particulate matter, gases, and odors, as well as weather parameters. It can operate independently through solar power or mains power.
- Fine particulate matter (PM1, PM2.5, PM10), gases, and odors
- Ammonia and H2S sensors, relevant for aquaculture facilities
- Autonomous operation, solar / 230 V, robust enclosure, mobile network data transmission
What the Ostara station measures
Ostara measures fine particulate matter (PM1, PM2.5, PM10), gases and odors, such as hydrogen sulfide, ammonia, nitrogen dioxide, ozone, and volatile organic compounds, as well as weather parameters, including wind, temperature, pressure, and humidity. The gas sensors are field-interchangeable, with automatic recognition and temperature compensation.
The station also calculates environmental indicators, such as dew point and the Air Quality Index. For an aquaculture facility, the ammonia and hydrogen sulfide sensors are the most relevant, as they are linked to odors and air quality around the installation.
Built for outdoor use
Ostara has a durable enclosure, with dust and water protection and impact resistance. It operates across a wide temperature range and can be mounted on a pole or wall.
Robust enclosure
Dust and water protection (IP66), impact resistance, designed for demanding environments.
Autonomous power supply
Solar panel and battery or 230 V mains power, for independent operation.
Data transmission
Mobile networks (2G/3G/4G) and built-in web interface for data viewing.
When it makes sense for an aquaculture farm
Ostara does not monitor water quality. For that, see the water monitoring section. It is relevant only if you want to monitor odors or airborne gases around a recirculating aquaculture system or a processing facility, for example in relation to nearby residents or working conditions.

Frequently Asked Questions
What does the Ostara station monitor?
Ostara monitors air quality: fine particulate matter (PM1, PM2.5, PM10), gases and odors, such as hydrogen sulfide, ammonia, nitrogen dioxide, ozone, and volatile organic compounds, as well as weather parameters. The gas sensors are field-interchangeable and feature automatic recognition.
Does Ostara also measure water quality?
The station itself measures air. However, it can integrate a WiMo water probe via Modbus if you want to monitor water from the same station. If the main objective is water monitoring, the appropriate solutions are the water probes from the range.
How is the Ostara station powered?
Ostara can be powered autonomously, using a solar panel and battery, or from a 230 V mains supply. It operates in outdoor environments and transmits data through mobile networks, being designed to work independently in the field.
